Community Spotlight - Aubree Bishop

We recently heard I Know This Much Is True starring Mark Ruffalo comes out this Sunday!!! A few months back we featured Aubree in a few of her dance photo adventures around the village. We had heard Aubree was an extra in “I know this much is true“ and reached out to her Mom Korryn to catch up with them!!

WR: We stumbled on your incredible dance pics with you and your friends (snapped around the village) and it turns out you are a student at our favorite studio - QCD - tell us more!!

AUBREE: I absolutely love taking pictures all around Wappinger. I especially love going into the Village and The Industrial Park. It has so many cool backdrops.

I am a dancer at Queen City Dance in Poughkeepsie. I have been on the competition dance team for 3 years. It has been so hard for all of us not being in the studio. Going from seeing each other almost everyday to only seeing each other on a computer screen. The teachers have been great about keeping us connected and keeping us dancing. We have virtual classes during the week. The studio had a virtual pajama /dance party. And we have done some fun social media challenges. I can’t wait until I can get back in the studio and be back with my dance family.

WR: The pics with the American Flag as the backdrop and County Players were great (see our insta feed to check them out @wappingersrises). Tell us a little bit about what it’s been like being out of the school classrooms (physically) and away from friends.

AUBREE: With everything still going on I assumed school was going to be cancelled for the year, but it was still a shock when they finally announced it. I just started middle school this year and I made a lot of new friends that I am missing. We had a class trip to Boston cancelled, and so many other fun things we won’t get to do together. My older brother was supposed to graduate from college this year. We are all missing out on a lot of fun stuff. Hopefully things will be back to as “normal”as it can be really soon.

WR: So, we heard a rumor you were an extra in ”I know this much is true” tell us everything or something! :-)

AUBREE: Yes, the rumor is true lol. I did film as an extra on the HBO series I Know This Much Is True. It was the first time I was on a movie set. I’m hoping it won’t be my last. I definitely caught the acting bug. It was probably one of the best times I have ever had. I first went to a warehouse in Wappinger for a wardrobe fitting a few weeks before. I have never seen so many racks of clothes in all my life. They took pictures of the clothes they picked for me so they would know what I was going to wear on set. They had everything kind of clothing you could imagine. I was on the actual set for 3 days,. The scene I shot was at a school in Poughkeepsie. I was supposed to be in the 1950’s. I would go in the morning get my hair and wardrobe done. I loved getting my hair done. All the clothes were from the 50’s I even wore saddle shoes. It was so hot the days I was there so I would have to take my sweater off in between takes. But they gave us lots of drinks to keep us cool. The 3 scenes I shot were in a classroom, on the playground, and at a ceremony. We did have to wait around a lot and we had to do the same things over and over. But I guess they wanted everything perfect. It was very cool when we were done they yelled “that’s a wrap”. I can’t wait to watch the series this Sunday. I know lots of people from our area that are in it. It’s going to be so fun to see all the people and places that i know.

Thank you so much for sharing with us! Keep dancing and we look forward to seeing more pics! We will look for you Sunday during the premier 📽👏🏽😂👏🏽👏🏽

Be sure to tune in this Sunday!!! HBO I Know This Much Is True!
